The lanes were located upstairs, not on the street level or basement.
In July 1945, Sgt. Art Litton acquires the Powell bowling alleys from Clyde Caraveau but subsequently sells the lanes to Ed Strange in Jan 1947. O. L. Kasinger and his brother Ray bought the building from Allen Klindt in July 1947 and had it renovated for the new Play-Mor Bowling Lanes by November. By January 1949, O. L. and Ray Kasinger sold the Play-Mor Bowling Lanes to Harold Hergenraeder and Alex Fink. Harold Hergenraeder and Alex Fink were the owners/managers of the alleys at 213 Bent per the 1950 Rocky Mountain Business Directory. On June 18, 1950, the exterior wall of the bowling alley collapsed during construction efforts of the Peter Kranz's new Gamble's hardware store (223 N Bent St). Harold Hergenraeder was the owner/manager of the alleys at 213 Bent per the 1950 Rocky Mountain Business Directory. The reference to Play-Mor Lanes in the Lion/Trapper College Yearbook with a phone number of 799 (different than Pla-Mor Lanes phone number SK 4-2422) suggests it was on Bent St, not Clark St, need to confirm. Myron Heny owned the Powell Bowling Lanes on Clark St in 1963 and actually set pins at this location by hand when he was a kid in the late 1940s. |
